Aboriginal-Identified Position
If you answer yes to those questions, you may be the person we are looking for to join our team of facilitators working to support the Gamilaraay language to Aboriginal children and students.
About us
Winanga-Li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre (Winanga-Li) is a dynamic, not-for-profit, for-purpose organisation grounded in the cultural strength and leadership of the Aboriginal community. At the heart of everything we do is our name: Winanga-Li, from our Gamilaraay language, meaning “hear, listen, know, remember.” This speaks to our deep commitment to cultural knowledge, community voice, and intergenerational wellbeing. Winanga-Li provides a broad and integrated range of services, including early childhood education and care, out-of-home care, family support and community development initiatives. We walk alongside families to build strong foundations, empower community-led solutions, and support children to grow up safe, strong, and proud in their culture. Strong children, strong families, strong communities.
About the Role
Winanga-Li Language Hub is seeking passionate and community-connected Gamilaraay Language Facilitators to support language revitalisation across early childhood, schools, and community settings. No prior experience is required. Full training and mentoring will be provided. We are actively building a pathway of local Aboriginal practitioners into confident Gamilaraay language teachers within their own communities. This approach prioritises the employment of local Aboriginal people, strengthening community leadership, cultural knowledge, and long-term language sustainability. It is a workforce development model that supports people to grow from practitioners into qualified and confident language teachers through structured mentoring, on-the-job training, and professional development opportunities.
