Culturally Grounded Support for Aboriginal Families Experiencing Domestic and Family Violence
Winanga-li’s Aboriginal Family Wellbeing Domestic Violence Pilot Program provides early, culturally informed support for Aboriginal families in the Gunnedah region who are experiencing domestic and family violence. Funded by DCJ, the program helps individuals and families increase safety, strengthen protective factors and access practical and cultural support.
About the Program
The program supports Aboriginal adults and their children who are navigating the impacts of domestic and family violence. Our team offers culturally safe, compassionate support that prioritises dignity, healing and empowerment.
We work with families to understand their circumstances, plan for safety, strengthen relationships and connect to community supports that promote long-term wellbeing. Referrals come from community services, DCJ, police, health services and self-referral.
