Location: Servicing Moree, Narrabri, Inverell/Gwydir, Tamworth, Gunnedah & Liverpool Plains (Gamilaraay/Gomeroi/Kamilaroi Country)

Winanga-li ACFC is seeking a passionate and experienced Aboriginal Family Preservation Manager to lead the delivery of a culturally grounded, intensive family preservation program across our service footprint. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring Aboriginal children remain safely connected to family, kin and community through a therapeutic, trauma-informed, and culturally led model of care. You will guide program development, oversee service quality, and support a skilled workforce delivering wraparound, in-home supports to families experiencing complex challenges.

This is an Aboriginal identified position.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead Family Preservation services across multiple locations
  • Ensure delivery of intensive, home-based, culturally safe programs
  • Drive program growth, innovation and reform readiness

Practice Leadership & Quality

  • Oversee high-quality, evidence-based and culturally grounded case practice
  • Ensure strong risk assessment, safety planning and case review processes
  • Embed trauma-informed and healing-centred approaches

Workforce Leadership & Development

  • Supervise Team Leaders and multidisciplinary practitioners
  • Build workforce capability through coaching, mentoring and training
  • Support recruitment, retention and leadership development pathways

Community & Cultural Engagement

  • Work alongside Elders and cultural leaders
  • Ensure services align with community expectations and cultural governance
  • Strengthen kinship, identity and cultural connection in service delivery

Partnerships & Service Integration

  • Build strong cross-agency and community partnerships
  • Coordinate wraparound supports and referral pathways
  • Enhance collaboration across government and non-government services

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with program requirements and legislation
  • Oversee reporting, data quality and outcome monitoring
  • Support audits and continuous quality improvement

About You (Essential)

  • Aboriginality (this is an identified role)
  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in family preservation, child protection or family support programs
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal community-controlled service delivery
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex casework
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice frameworks
  • Current:
    • Working With Children Check
    • National Criminal Record Check
    • NSW Driver Licence

Highly Regarded

  • Experience in intensive in-home or wraparound service models
  • Training in therapeutic or trauma-informed practice
  • Leadership or management qualifications
